Join us for a musical journey in June
We are thrilled to announce our guests for an Open Day that promises to transport audiences through the rich tapestry of English music history. On June 7th we will be joined by The Sherbourne String Quartet who will feature a selection of pieces that span several centuries including the violin duet by Henry VIII – “Past-times with Good Company” which complements the Tudor-era setting.

The program includes:
- Henry Purcell – Selections from “Fairy Queen” (circa 1692), incidental music written to accompany Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream
- John Banister – Bourrees (circa 1650)
- Charles Wesley – String Quartet No. 2 (circa 1750)
- Henry Purcell – Selections from “Abdelazer Suite” (circa 1676)
- GF Handel – Selections from “Water Music Suite” (circa 1717), pieces from the Thames pageant
- Mozart – Presto movement from K156 (circa 1770)
- Traditional Folk Music – Sherborne Waltz/Orange In Bloom
- New Composition – “The Mysterious Rose,” in the style of an Elizabethan waltz
- Henry VIII – “Past-times with Good Company”
- Diego Ortiz – Ricercada (circa 1650), a renaissance-style piece
- Leopold Mozart – Allegro ma non troppo (circa 1740)
This performance will be casual, with approximately 45-60 minutes of music played multiple times throughout the day. Visitors will be able to soak up the atmosphere at their leisure as they enjoy the surroundings of The Weaver’s House and garden which will be open as usual.
We look forward to sharing this musical journey with you. Our thanks to our special guests The Sherbourne String Quartet.
